Read Our Testimonies

By Man Lan Cheng April 18, 2026
Before I believed in Jesus, I thought that only people in need would believe in God—those who were sick, lonely, or struggling. I felt that I was already very blessed and lacked nothing. Except for my grandmother, who was a devout Christian, many of the Christians I saw around me did not live in a way that impressed me, so I had no interest in going to church. When I was little, my grandmother often took my siblings and me to church. But to be honest, the main reason we went was because food was provided. The messages were also shared in a dialect I couldn’t understand, so it was difficult for me to pay attention. But God did not give up on me. Throughout my life, different people shared the gospel with me, and my younger sister kept inviting me to church gatherings. One time, at a gospel meeting, a believer’s testimony and the message deeply touched my heart. That day, I prayed to accept Jesus Christ as my Savior. I clearly remember these words: “The true God created man; false gods are made by man.” This helped me realize that the idols I had worshiped were not the true God, because they were made by human hands. After I believed in the Lord Jesus, I experienced a peace I had never known before. I used to be very afraid of the dark and of ghosts. I needed to keep the lights on or play music to fall asleep at night. But from the very night I accepted the Lord, that fear was gone. Earlier, I said that only people with needs believe in God—now I realize that I am one of them. I used to get bored easily, lose my temper quickly, and be very competitive. I also drank alcohol to fill an emptiness inside me. But after believing in the Lord, my life was no longer empty. Instead, it became full of joy and purpose. Through the teachings of the Bible, I have learned to rely on the Lord, and I am no longer controlled by my temper or the need to compete with others. God is almighty, all-sufficient, and full of wisdom. I have truly experienced His help and provision. When I was in Hong Kong, I did not do well in school and even failed my public exams. After immigrating to the United States, I had to take care of three young children on my own while my husband remained in Hong Kong for work. Yet through the help and encouragement of brothers and sisters in the church, I was able to complete my college education and now work in a government position. I know this was not by my own ability, but by the Lord’s grace working in my life. One verse I treasure deeply is: “But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9 Today, I truly treasure the Lord Jesus I believe in. He is indeed a wonderful Savior.

Thanks to God, through the salvation of the Lord Jesus, He has not only become my Savior but has also made my life meaningful and full of joy. My name is Cindy (Wai Yu). Before I believed in the Lord Jesus, I was very timid, fearful, and quiet. I was afraid of death and of the dark. In school, I rarely spoke because I felt I was not as capable as my classmates. Because of my many shortcomings, I withdrew into myself and didn’t dare to connect with others, so I had very few friends. I thank the Lord for giving me the opportunity to know Him. When I was in my early teens, my mother was sick for a long time. She tried many medications and even sought help from traditional beliefs, but nothing worked. At that time, I had not yet believed in the Lord, but I still tried praying for her. In the end, it was a Christian doctor who helped restore her health. Through this experience, I deeply felt that God is real, powerful, and One who listens to prayer. Later, I heard the precious gospel at a church meeting—how God does not count people’s sins against them, but sent His only Son to become man and save us. God’s love touched me deeply, and I made the decision to believe in the Lord and follow Him. After I believed in the Lord, my life changed greatly. I was no longer afraid of death, nor did I constantly worry about misfortune happening to me or my family. Today, many people say that I love to smile. This is because of the love of the Lord Jesus and His presence in my life. I am no longer lonely, but filled with peace and joy. I no longer hide myself or feel burdened by my shortcomings. Instead, through the Lord’s love, I now live a joyful and abundant life, and I desire to share this love with others. Currently, I serve among a group of seniors in my church, and I am grateful to be a help to them. Through this, I see that God does not overlook anyone—He even uses my life to encourage and bless others. I thank the Lord for transforming me—bringing me from darkness to light, from despair to hope, and from insecurity to a life of value and purpose. I also have the assurance that at the end of my life, I will enter eternity and be with the Lord who loves me forever. Now, my life is full of light and meaning. This precious and living Savior is in my life, and I hope you will come to know Him too.
